- <p> DIED. Al TRACE, 92, swing-era songwriter and bandleader; in
- Sun City West, Arizona. Trace composed songs favored by the
- likes of the Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra and most recently
- country singer K.T. Oslin. However, he was famously associated
- with a 1943 hit that he did not write but rather performed:
- the novelty number Mairzy Doats, a jivey summation of farmyard
- food preferences that immortalized the nonsense syllables "Mairzy
- doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey..."
